Something I’ve noticed A LOT is foreign researchers being awarded UK taxpayer funding to study complete nonsense. Take the fact that one of the researchers behind the infamous study The Europe that Gay Porn Built, 1945-2000 is a Portuguese man who lives in Sweden.

It’s bad enough when UK researchers are given grants for woke research. Even worse when we are giving out funding left, right and centre so that foreigners can study gay pig masculinities (as the Portuguese researcher has had a taxpayer-funded grant for) or “THE PERIPHERALISATION OF ASYLUM ACCOMMODATION: MILITARY SITES, VESSELS, AND HOTELS IN ENGLAND”, the title of today’s example.

The £248,940 study, running from August 2025 to August 2027, is being undertaken by Dr Gaja Maestri, “a sociologist with an expertise on migration and ethnicity, collective action, and gender and intersectionality.” Because the UK economy is really crying out for this skillset…

Maestri has done rather well out of the UK taxpayer. According to her online profile, she been subsidised by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) multiple times - including her latest project.

Tellingly, the abstract for her new study begins with a line about the “hostile environment”, immediately signalling what her political leanings are. Never mind that her “qualitative investigation” (they always are; wokies can’t do maths) involves “in-depth interviews with a variety of stakeholders, including 24 local authorities’ and charities’ representatives, and 70 migrants”.

Maestri will also be working with “migrant advocacy organisations”, such as the British Red Cross, and the Migrants Champions Network. So I’m sure we can expect some very detached, objective research. NOT.

If you can be bothered, have a read of the abstract here. The gist is that asylum seekers are being moved into harsher types of accommodation (which I don’t even know is true), that this is a bit mean, and it’s time to “address the evolving needs and rights of asylum seekers.”

What about UK citizens’ “evolving needs and rights” each week as there’s a new story about a random foreign man stabbing/ raping someone?

You certainly won’t get funding for studying this. Meanwhile our bills are going up so that Italian sociologists and their fellow fauxcademics can produce vague research on how hostile Britain is.

Today’s examples are university grants, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC). In my view AHRC should be cut immediately by any sane government.

It is responsible for wasting colossal sums on the likes of The Europe that Gay Porn Built, 1945-2000, an £840k study that is still ongoing!

AHRC falls under the remit of the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), a quango that was awarded £8,811 million by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology between 2025-26.

You couldn’t make it up…

On the same day a poor man in Belfast was near-decapitated, with a Sudanese man charged with attempted murder, the taxpayer-funded City of Sanctuary Sheffield is advertising a “Far Right Resistance Workshop”.

Taking place on June 20, you can “Hear from people with lived experience of the UK border regime and discuss organising for migrant justice.”

The event is being put together by SADACCA (Sheffield and District African Caribbean Community Association), which lists Sheffield City Council, South Yorkshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner and The Parole Board as partners.

City of Sanctuary Sheffield is an an offshoot of City of Sanctuary UK. The former received £574,680 in taxpayer funding between 2021-25, mostly through grants from Sheffield City Council and is in my audit below (accounting for £663,116,359 in taxpayer funding):

Another event promoted by the charity (taking place today) is titled “Solidarity with Sudan Film”, an “evening of film, discussion, Sudanese food and music, featuring human rights activists, humanitarian organisations, and people with lived experience of migration from Sudan.”

Great timing.

The economy may be on its knees, but at least taxpayers are being charged £1,555,506 to “revolutionise the academic understanding and policy frameworks surrounding LGBTIQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer, and questioning) asylum”, ey?!

Yes, this is an actual study funded by the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) through its Future Leaders Fellowships (FLF) scheme.

While not the worst UKRI creation (which is undoubtedly the Arts and Humanities Research Council), the FLF is responsible for some real horrors, such as Decolonising Justice: Vernacular Justice Cultures Beyond the Liberal Order (which was awarded £1,164,119 and is currently underway).

Readers of my Substack will know I’m not very keen on Mike Bloomberg, the US billionaire and three time mayor of NYC, who tried to become the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020 (spending at least $409m of his own money on his failed bid).

Not only does he effectively run London through his Number 2, Sadiq Khan, but he is way too involved with mayors globally, via his Bloomberg programmes and the C40 Cities blob.

This totally undemocratic state of affairs is made worse by the fact that London looks crap - despite Bloomberg/ Khan endlessly posting videos about how amazing everything is. How stupid do they think we are?

It doesn’t seem long since Trafalgar Square was last used to mark Eid.

But that was only Eid al-Fitr 2026, which marks the end of the month-long Ramadan fast.

On the 30th May, Trafalgar Square will mark Eid al-Adha, “one of the two blessed Eids that we celebrate as Muslims. It follows the end of the annual Hajj pilgrimage period, and is also known as the ‘Feast of Sacrifice’” (according to Islamic Relief).

Just like Eid al-Fitr (marked as part of “Open Iftar”), Eid on the Square 2026 will be delivered in partnership with the Mayor of London, who has promised these will be “the biggest Eid celebrations in London” and “Everyone’s invited.”

The Mayor of London’s free annual festival is back! Bringing Londoners and visitors together to celebration Eid al-Adha, this year marks the 20th anniversary Eid has been held in the iconic Trafalgar Square.

This event is developed through relationships with our Eid Community Advisory Group, other community groups and arts organisations, celebrating London’s diverse Muslim communities in the form of art, culture, literature, history, fashion and food.

The British Muslim Trust was awarded the Government’s “Combatting Hate Against Muslims Fund" earlier this year, whereby "Up to £650,000 [is available] in the 2025 to 2026 financial year" (“and up to £1 million in the 2026 to 2027 and 2027 to 2028 financial years.”)

The Trust was founded by The Aziz Foundation and Randeree Charitable Trust, the former of which funded the Ramadan lights in the West End and received £70,310 from taxpayers between 2021-22…

It is also listed as a donor on Hope Not Hate Charitable Trust’s grants for the year ended December 2024:

This week Hackney Council introduced its new Cabinet since the Green Party took over from Labour.

It was keen to point out that the Cabinet member for Finance, Resident Services and Digital, Florence Schechter, founded “the ground-breaking Vagina Museum”.

The Vagina Museum is the world’s first bricks and mortar museum dedicated to vaginas, vulvas and the gynaecological anatomy”.

Officially registered as a charity, the trans-inclusive museum has received £140,140 in government grants since 2020.

Schechter, who uses the pronouns “she/ they”, is the author of V: An Empowering Celebration of the Vulva and Vagina.

In 2024 she appeared at Green Man Festival to give a talk titled “Who’s Afraid of The Vagina?”

Ahead of the event she posted “By the end of this talk, you'll be equipped to smash stigmas, label your labia, and advocate for your vulva's rights. Unleash your Big V Energy and let's break down the barriers of taboo, speak openly about our health and pleasure, and understand our bodies like never before.”

In 2024 Schechter stood down as director of The Vagina Museum and said “I don’t know what’s next for me yet… I want to take some time to figure out what my next chapter is. I’m open to whatever opportunities the universe has to bring me.”

Luckily Hackney will be spoiled with everything she has learnt about vaginas.

In my piece yesterday, I briefly wrote about the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Fair Elections.

I am generally not a fan of APPGs, as I believe they are one of the easiest ways for unelected forces to influence British democracy. Soros funding can be linked to several.

And wait until you see the funders of the APPG for Fair Elections, which is supposedly “Eliminating dark money and undemocratic influence from politics.” Ha!
