The Wellcome Trust, which received £103,600,000 from taxpayers between 2021-25, has commissioned a song “about the impacts of extreme heat on human health”.
The song, titled “Cool Me Down”, was produced by the American hip-hop duo EARTHGANG.
On Instagram, Wellcome Trust wrote:
We need to communicate in different ways to reach new audiences. Music can inspire hope and drive climate action.
That’s why Wellcome has partnered with Sounds Right and commissioned Grammy-nominated hip-hop duo EARTHGANG (@earthgang) to create the track “Cool me down” about the impacts of extreme heat on human health, launched with UN Live yesterday for Climate Week NYC.

Unfortunately this is not the first time the Wellcome Trust has tried to get climate messaging into the arts.
