Periods for Palestine! 🍉
Did you know that the taxpayer is funding an Oxford University podcast about menstruation?
Please consider a paid subscription if you would like to support my Substack features and investigations. I like to keep as many posts free as possible to grow public awareness, but I am increasingly reliant on paid subscriptions as I have cut down on other freelance work. Such is the scale of Woke Waste, it has become something of an around-the-clock job (and passion!). To add, I do not want to take funding - which I have been kindly offered - so as to retain my independence. I know it would be used against me by detractors. In short, this is why paid subscriptions are so vital to my investigations. Each one gives me more bandwidth to delve into Woke Waste and all the other areas I feel compromise our rights as taxpayers - and therefore UK democracy. Ultimately my goal is to raise public awareness of Woke Waste so that we can can do something. The first step to that, in my view, is auditing as much as possible. Thanks for all your support so far.
Did you know that the University of Oxford Chemistry Department has a podcast about periods?
Well, you’re in for a treat.
Periodically, according to its founders, is “podcast that covers all things periods and chemistry!”
“Each week, over this series of six episodes, we here at the University of Oxford will be taking a deep-dive into just how periods have affected us in tutorials, exams, labs and just generally studying at undergrad. We want to talk about how periods can sometimes just get in the bloody way!”
Forget Breaking Bad - or that other Netflix series you’re binge-watching. Periodically will leave you hungry for more with its episodes on “General Workload”, “Tutorials” and “Exams”:
So high is the demand for the Periodically podcast that another series was commissioned:
Here’s a recording session for episodes on “endometriosis, PCOS, perimenopause and pregnancy”:
The Periodically team are a busy bunch. Take Sofia, who is co-founder of another period-related project:
Other members have recently been baking cakes for a good cause. Think Periods for Palestine:
They’re also very inclusive of trans periods:
How much is this costing, anyway?
Periodically is funded by The Royal Society of Chemistry Equality and Diversity fund.
The Society has received £1.461 million in government grants since 2018.
Its Inclusion & Diversity Fund is designed for projects that “help make the chemical sciences community more inclusive and diverse”.
Here are some that received funding in 2023 - with past projects running to 2016:
Here’s how much Periodically received for Season 2 (*sadly I have been unable to locate Season 1 funding):
Periodically also appears to have had funding from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), which falls under the remit of UKRI.
The specific programme above has received over £6 million in funding.
This is far from the last period-related project I shall be discussing on Woke Waste. Academic institutions seem to have gone mad about the subject - way beyond a normal level of coverage (periods in Antartica, anyone?).
I also thought you might appreciate this EPSRC-funded PhD:
Anyway, if you fancy tuning in to Periodically, you can find it on Apple podcasts and Spotify, among other channels:
What women have coped with throughout history and still raised families, and achieved much in the workplace (have these students ever actually worked?), is evidently a major problem for these snowflakes.
No doubt the next subject for this idiotic generation of students will be the problems that male students face with all that sperm building up in their bodies, not allowing them to concentrate on their studies. Over-sperm production problems in Palestine? How about shoving a million at it?
