Mazzucato's politics, not her economics, is why she is favoured. Unfortunately, the UK and the EU have low levels of innovation because of Keynsian/leftist economists like her. (HMRC is busy denying tax credits to companies that traditionally enjoyed them...watch our tech sector get decimated.) The real aim might be to destroy businesses so we can either have more state or a few big players in each sector who will work with government.
I came across this eejit when my granddaughter started an economics degree in Edinburgh. Being an economist I was interested in her reading/watching list (yup, they watch lot of videos these days rather than read - so much easier and faster!), and this female was on the list in a prominent place. Not having heard of her I watched a couple of her videos, and discovered someone with a naive undergraduate understanding posing as an innovator shaking up the old fuddy-duddies. The only one to benefit from her economics is herself with her (com)missions galore.
