“This is…scary” were the words of Carole Cadwalladr last week after Elon Musk threatened to prosecute the Centre for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) “for interference in US elections”:
In case you missed the debacle, in October leaked documents showed the CCDH (first launched by Morgan McSweeney, now Keir Starmer’s chief of staff) had been busy trying to “Kill Musk’s Twitter”:
Before the leak, I was pretty convinced we were being nudged off Twitter, incidentally:
You can see my full thread here, which look quite “interesting” in light of the leak.
Anyway, it makes sense why Musk/ Trump/ the US were/ are fuming about the CCDH’s tactics - compounded by the fact a whole load of Labour activists flew over to campaign for Kamala Harris.
But according to Cadwalladr, it’s “scary”. She added to her tweet:
A civil society group that researches disinformation being threatened with prosecution. It’s so hard to contemplate let alone process what is coming.
Of course, it’s a “civil society group” researching “disinformation” when the left secretly meddle in other democracies!
Clearly to her, foreign interference can only be bad if it’s Putin and “the right”/ Brexit. Incidentally, she seems to have NO conception that Russia is ideologically promiscuous, as Catherine Belton spells out in her (amazing) book Putin’s People:
Perhaps Cadwalladr might read it one day.
